The Mid-America Division provides customers with a wide range of services in addition to the collection of blood products.
- Transfer of Blood Products – If we request that a hospital transfer blood to another hospital (that would normally be returned), Red Cross route drivers will act as the courier as a convenience to the hospital. You may also transfer blood between facilities and will not be charged a restocking fee.
- Inventory management – Red Cross staff help hospitals with inventory management to help maintain appropriate stocking. Our staff is available for free consultation on hospital stock levels to meet patient needs.
- Reference Laboratory Services – we provide advanced immunohematology reference laboratory services for our customers to support patients with positive antibody identifications and rare blood types.
- Medical Consultation – Our medical directors are available for consultation around the clock.

- Education – We provide a variety of educational tools for you and your customers.
- Rare Donor Program – We participate in the American Rare Donor Program and can access products for patients.
- Emergency Orders – Our staff is available to provide for emergency needs from distribution centers located across the upper Midwest.
- Clinical Services – such as bedside plasma exchange, photopheresis and LDL Apheresis procedures.
